Topological and Two-dimensional Materials Group

Quantum State of Matter
About

Topological and Two-Dimensional Materials Group is led by Senior Scientist Prof. Katsumi Tanigaki, who works full time at BAQIS since 2020 and also serves as Emeritus Professor at Advanced Institute of Materials Science, Tohoku University, Japan. The team consists of 8 full-time researchers presently. Their research target is to explore new quantum phenomena arising from topological materials, such as topological insulators and Dirac/Weyl semimetals.

Group Leader: Katsumi Tanigaki

Research Directions:

We are now pursuing the following research topics:

1. Strong cross-coupling phenomena among charge current, spin current and heat current

2. Topological p-n junction and their related phenomena

3. Quantum anomalous Hall effect

4. Uncoventional superconductivity

5. Light emission in electrical-driven mode
