Quantum Computation
About

The Quantum Algorithm and Application Software(QAAS) Group stems from the group of Quantum Direct Communication and Quantum Algorithm Application Research in April 2021,lead by Gui-Lu Long who is a professor in Tsinghua University as well as a deputy-president of BAQIS. The group comprises eight full-time members.  Notable among their achievements, Prof. Long invented the Quantum Precise Search Algorithm, also known as Grover-Long Algorithm to the community. In addition, he proposed to perform quantum computation with linear combination of unitary operators (LCU),  which is one of the five fundamental techniques to design quantum algorithms.

Group Leader: Gui-Lu Long

Since the development of the group, it has made several remarkable contributions in quantum algorithms, including the Full-quantum Eigensolver (FQE) and an improved quantum gradient descent algorithm.  The FQE can be implemented entirely on a quantum computer, with promising application to chemistry and atom simulation. The improved quantum gradient descent algorithm reduces the requirement of quantum circuit, enabling its performance on state-of-the-art quantum hardware. The group focuses on developing applied algorithms and softwares , such as quantum algorithms for quantum-chemistry simulation, atomic nuclear physics, quantum machine learning, quantum finance and logistics, traffic control, and cryptanalysis. In the future, utilizing quantum algorithms and softwares to solve practical problems on quantum computers would be one of the most urgent and applicable research fields among quantum computation.
