BAQIS Successfully Hosted International Symposium on Quantum Physics and Quantum Information Sciences 2021 (QPQIS2021)
2021/12/13
From December 2nd to 3rd, 2021, the third International Symposium on Quantum Physics and Quantum Information Sciences 2021 (QPQIS2021) was successfully held by Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences (BAQIS). 19 internationally renowned scholars from 6 countries including China, the United States, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium had in-depth discussions on the theme of this forum "Progress of Fundamental Research in Quantum Computation". This forum attracted wide attention from domestic and foreign peers. According to statistics, more than 19,000 people from 22 countries watched this forum online.
Qi-Kun Xue, President of BAQIS and Member of CAS, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony.
Xiang Tao, President of BAQIS and Member of CAS, presented the Best Poster Award at the closing ceremony
Prof. Qi-Kun Xue and Prof. Tao Xiang, both of BAQIS Presidents and Members of CAS, served as the chairmen of this forum. Prof. Heng Fan (Institute of Physics, CAS / BAQIS), Prof. Ke He (Tsinghua Univ. / BAQIS), Prof. Dong Liu (Tsinghua Univ. / BAQIS), Prof. Gui-Lu Long (Tsinghua Univ. / BAQIS), Dr. Tian Pei (BAQIS), Prof. Hao-Hua Wang (Zhejiang Univ.), Prof. Hong-Qi Xu (Peking Univ. / BAQIS), and Dr. Huai-Bin Zhuang (BAQIS) are members of the organizing committee.

QPQIS2021 invited world-leading research scientists with backgrounds ranging from prominent universities, government-funded institutions, to high-tech companies, e. g. Delft University of Technology from the Netherlands, RIKEN from Japan, Google from the U.S., etc. The main topics of QPQIS2021 include improvements of materials and fabrication processes of quantum computing systems, control systems, qubit and gate manipulations, error correction methods, architectures, quantum algorithms, software stacks, etc., with regard to major realization schemes of quantum computing such as superconducting, trapped-ion, semiconductor, photonic, spin, topological qubits.
Online and Onsite Talks of QPQIS2021
QPQIS2021 also featured poster sessions for the first time, including online and offline poster shows, video-recorded presentations, and online discussions. The poster panel evaluated all nearly 40 high-quality submissions in terms of scientific content, design, and clarity of the presentation, and selected three Best Poster Awards. With the certificates and cash incentive, the awards hope to recognize excellent posters and, more importantly, to encourage more outstanding achievements in the future.
