BAQIS President Qi-Kun Xue Won Fudan-Zhongzhi Science Award 2020

In September 24, 2020, the Fudan-Zhongzhi Science Award 2020 was announced. Professor Qi-Kun Xue of Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences/Tsinghua University, Professor Sir Michael V. Berry of University of Bristol, and Professor Charles L. Kane of University of Pennsylvania received the awards

 

Professor Qi-Kun Xue was awarded for his discovery of the quantum anomalous Hall effect.

 

The award was jointly founded in 2015 by Fudan University and Zhongzhi Enterprise Group, in recognition of scientists who have made fundamental and groundbreaking achievements in physics, mathematics, and biomedicine. The award aims to promote global scientific research and advance science and technology, providing an international platform for research communication, discussion and sharing. The 2020 award is the second given in the field of physics. The laureates share 3 million RMB donated by Zhongzhi Enterprise Group.

 

Fudan-Zhongzhi Science Award represents the cutting-edge technological innovation globally. In the past 4 years, 5 of the award winners won the Nobel Prizes later, including James P.Allison, Tasuku Honjo, Kip Thorne, Rainer Weiss and Barry Barish.

 

The award ceremony will be held on 13 December, in Shanghai.
