BAQIS Held 2024 Chinese New Year Tea Party & International Culture Exchange Day

While the Chinese New Year is approaching, BAQIS held 2024 Chinese New Year tea party & International Culture Exchange Day on January 26th. Dr. Huai-Bin Zhuang, Assistant President, hosted the event. The international members, from the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Malaysia, India and Pakistan, attended the tea party with  Prof. Guilu Long, Vice President for Research, Dr. Kai Chang, Assistant President, Prof. Ke He, Division Director, and staff from relative departments and research groups.

Dr. Huai-Bin Zhuang delivered a welcome speech on the beginning of the tea party, wishing all international members a happy New Year, and expressing gratitude for their contributions in the past year. Then she reviewed the highlights of the international academic exchange at BAQIS in 2023, emphasizing that BAQIS is going to promote internationalization and international academic exchange in the future. BAQIS looks forward to working with all international members to enhance its research and innovation capabilities, as well as its international influence(Fig. 1). Dr. Kai Chang and Prof. Guilu Long also expressed their sincere gratitude to international members and sent warm greetings and New Year wishes.

Subsequently, Mr. Xiaolin Zhang, the third-generation inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Beijing paper-cutting and a member of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, gave an introduction to the distinctive features and representative masterpieces of Beijing-style paper-cutting, and conducted an on-site demonstration and tutorial. He guided everyone step-by-step to learn the traditional techniques of Chinese paper-cutting, culminating in the creation of a joyous and auspicious artwork called “Fortune Led by Immortals.” (Fig. 4-5).
