What kind of waste is mask?
Which trash can take-out box go to?
Is broken porcelain cup recyclable?
"Beijing Municipal Waste Sorting Dictionary" developed by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management is formally launched today (April 16).
To find out exactly how to sort a piece of waste, you only need to log in WeChat mini program and instantly retrieve the most authoritative answer in the "Dictionary", either by typing text, taking a photo or making a voice query.
After logging in "Beijing Municipal Waste Sorting Dictionary", which has just come online, you will find that, on the top of the screen, cartoon is used to restore the waste sorting and collection at home through utilization of "two cans and one bag", i.e., food waste can, residual waste can and recyclables bag.
Meanwhile, the mini program also uses trash cans in four colors to spread the knowledge about waste sorting.
By clicking each trash can, you can go to the illustrated guidance page for garbage dumping.
Such three retrieval areas as text recognition, photo identification and voice recognition are set up in main parts of the page.
If you want to learn where to throw a piece of waste, you can choose any of the retrieval methods.
Take up a cup, take a picture of it, and click the search button. Then, the mini program will immediately retrieve that this is a "cup", and tell you it is "recyclable".
"Almost all wastes common to citizens in Beijing have been included into the back-end database of Waste Sorting Dictionary.
Given that different people have different names for the same garbage, we specially improve fault tolerance function of the mini program.
For example, whether you type such different names as big bone, major bone or large bone, you will always get the same final retrieval result.
If you don't know the exact name of a piece of waste, you can take a photo of it for identification.
As for the elderly and children, voice recognition function has been developed" said Liu Wei, a clerk of Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management.
After launch of the mini program, the search content of the citizens will be summarized and analyzed, the dictionary will be updated in real time to include new search content.
In addition to search, it is also planned to add some scientific knowledge about waste sorting for the public to study and use.
Previously, similar waste sorting search software has been launched in other provinces and cities. However, not all of the waste sorting methods employed in other places are applicable to Beijing.
Liu Wei said: "waste sorting method is actually associated with different back end processing facilities in different places. Therefore, the waste sorting method varies slightly from place to place.
Results found in software introduced in other provinces or cities may be not applicable to waste sorting requirements in Beijing.
Beijing Municipal Waste Sorting Dictionary is developed specially for the reality in Beijing, and it can be regarded as the most authoritative waste sorting search software so far in Beijing."
