About the Speaker

Professor José Ignacio Latorre was appointed Director of the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore in July 2020. He is also leading the National Quantum Computing Hub and the National Quantum Processors Initiative, Singapore. He is a member of the National Quantum Steering Committee to develop the Singapore Quantum Strategy. His research covers the fields of High Energy Physics, Condensed Matter, Quantum Computation and Artificial Intelligence. He is a founder of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech. He is a member of the Real Academia de las Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales.

Abstract:

Progress on quantum algorithms needs critical revisiting of three relevant steps: encoding, processing and read-out. Here, we limit ourselves to discussing some ideas related to expressibility of a quantum circuit, and of compressed encoding of information on a ket.
