TitleSpintronics and opto-spintronics in III-V semiconductor based materials

HostQihua Xiong, Research Scientist, BAQIS; Professor, Tsinghua University.

Abstract:Spintronics and opto-spintronics explore the spin degree of freedom for information processing, storage and transfer. Achieving such application requires proper tailor of spin interactions and spin relaxation. In this talk, I will introduce our recent progress on spintronic and opto-spintronic studies in non-magnetic III-V semiconductor nanostructures. I will firstly showcase a convenient schema utilizing spin-dependent Fano interaction to tailor the spin properties of an ultrathin InGaAs quantum well. I will then discuss defect spin filtering strategies to completely suppress the spin relaxation and achieve highly efficient spin initialization in InGaAs quantum dots.

About the Speaker:Dr. Huang Yuqing is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.  His primary research interest is spin-dependent phenomena in semiconductor materials with the focus on spintronic and opto-spintronic applications. Huang received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering in Peking University in 2012. After that, he joined Link?ping University in Sweden, where he obtained his PhD in 2018. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Link?ping University. In 2019, he was awarded the Knut and Alice Wallenberg postdoctoral fellowship and worked as research fellow in Nanyang Technological University since then.
